- Select "About Windows" and check your sp version
- OR
- Right click on my computer and select properties
- Check your SP version
Well I'v installed service pack 3 upgrade on my windows xp pro ( SP2 ) 3 times and it made my PC freakingly slow . I can't even run 2 tasks simultaneously , windows just keep freezing . So the final conclusion is - DO NOT INSTALL SERVICE PACK 3 .
But what about update , many programs works only with Service Pack 3 update like antiviruses . so what to do . .............................................................

Follow these simple steps :
- Click on 'Start Menu' then click 'Run' and type 'regedit' then click ok. ( it will open the registry file )
- In registry go to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows
- Right-click on CSDVersion and click modify
- change the value from 200 to 300
- Restart computer .
